The GMAT is taken by more than 250,000 prospective graduate business students annually. The exam is available throughout the year at test centers in 114 countries, and GMAT scores are valid for five years. The GMAT total score, reported from 200 to 800, is calculated from the verbal and quantitative sections of the exam. These two sections of the GMAT are computer adaptive at the question level, meaning that the difficulty level of the questions is determined by the individual answers (a correct answer leads to a more difficult next question, while an incorrect answer prompts an easier subsequent question). The GMAT also includes sections on integrated reasoning and analytical writing, which are scored separately. The Graduate Management Admission Council, the organization that administers the GMAT, reports that two-thirds of test-takers receive total scores between 400 and 600. A score of 650 is in the 75th percentile, while a score of 700 is in the 88th percentile. Only about 2% of all students receive GMAT total scores of 750 or above. The typical applicant accepted to the best business schools is in the top 10% of all test-takers.

I got a 730 (unofficially). A 44 quantitative and 47 verbal. Interestingly, my score on the verbal side went up on each practice exam and the actual exam, while my math score was exactly the same every time, even though I studied much harder for the math because I found it more difficult than the verbal.
