Competitive GMAT scores are defined by the standards and selectivity of individual business schools. We encourage our students to aim for scores that are (at least) in the top 50% of a given institution's accepted applicants. The Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University, for example, reports an average GMAT score of 659, and an applicant with a score of 680 would probably present a strong case for admission to this program. At Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, however, a 680 is below average (the mean GMAT score at this school is approximately 690). A Georgetown applicant would therefore probably need a score of at least 700 for optimal chances of acceptance. Selective business schools almost always have high GMAT standards, and prospective students would be wise to rigorously prepare for the GMAT. The expense and effort associated with GMAT study is worthwhile because of the future job opportunities for those who hold graduate business degrees from elite programs. The time and money you spend on GMAT prep will seem insignificant a few years down the road, when you'll have leveraged your graduate business training into a lucrative career.

Manhattan Review's GMAT private tutoring and GMAT prep courses in Doha and other cities have eased acceptance into elite business schools for countless students. Many of our former Doha students have finished their degree programs and are now employed by Gulf Drilling International, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Insurance, QNB Group, and other Doha companies.
