According to the available statistics, the mean GMAT total score for all test-takers is 574. Top business programs around the world require very high GMAT scores. Meet a Chapel Hill GMAT Tutor: Bridget T.

Bridget T. was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and never imagined living anywhere other than the West Coast. She and her family members took yearly trips to visit her aunt and uncle in Raleigh and at some point, Bridget began to look forward to these trips, which offered something different than the usual routines of her beloved hometown. Bridget describes herself as someone who has "always" enjoyed working with numbers, and she proudly obtained a bachelor's degree in finance and information systems from the University of Washington, a well-known public research university. Desiring a career in finance and business, Bridget didn't want to leave anything to chance when it came to preparing for the GMAT. While she read countless books and completed an in-person group prep course, she didn't feel nearly prepared to take an exam that could significantly impact the course of her professional life. Bridget enrolled in an online course through Manhattan Review, certain it would be helpful to have professional support and to ensure she was focusing on the right test-related topics. Bridget prepared diligently for the GMAT, and her hard work and dedication were rewarded when she scored in the top percentile of test-takers, earning herself numerous offers of admission to the leading business programs across the United States.

While sad to leave her supportive family, Bridget ultimately chose to obtain her MBA at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC Chapel Hill. During her graduate program, Bridget began taking on side jobs as a tutor, "mostly because word got out that I was good with numbers and also good at explaining things," she laughs. "What surprised me was how much I enjoyed working with other students…I hadn't ever considered holding any type of a teaching role, but I came to love working with people on projects and helping them perform better than they could on their own." Bridget graduated with distinction and was offered a variety of exciting positions with both local and international companies, but she chose to remain in Chapel Hill. She enjoyed working in the finance side of a well-known biotech firm for more than a decade, but after a while, she began to search for additional ways to make a more impactful difference in the world on a smaller, more personal, scale. She returned to UNC and obtained a master's degree in teaching, determined to help others enjoy the success she had earned. When Manhattan Review opened an office in Chapel Hill, Bridget immediately reached out about the possibility of helping students preparing for the GMAT. We were thrilled to have someone with her breadth of knowledge and experience on board, and Bridget was overjoyed to share her enthusiasm for the world of business with future corporate leaders.

Bridget's GMAT prep courses fill up almost as fast as they're announced, and there is regularly a wait list to work with her. Clients routinely share how much they appreciate her impressive background, particularly her Research Triangle-area connections and first-hand experience excelling on the GMAT and developing a rewarding career. Bridget is particularly proud of her ability to teach students time management skills, ensuring they are able to complete all sections of the GMAT due to proper pacing. Her students have gone on to achieve impressive careers in a variety of industries, and she never gets tired of hearing about their personal and professional successes. When she isn't offering instruction on acing the GMAT, Bridget can be found enjoying local restaurants with his husband, taking her son to Tar Heels games, and running with her adopted dog early in the mornings.
