SAT Tutoring in Durban

Are you a Durban-based student seeking to obtain the highest score possible on the SAT? If you are searching for the most effective and comprehensive SAT preparation resources, look no further than the standardized test prep professionals at Manhattan Review. The SAT is an established part of applying to college and university undergraduate programs, and for those motivated students looking to score in the highest percentiles, set yourself up for the success you deserve by partnering with our dedicated and experienced tutors. When it comes to mastering complex information, many students perform perfectly well learning in classroom-style group settings, deriving important benefits from interacting with their peers and finding their learning expanded by others' questions and comments. Other students, however, know that they do not perform at their best in a group setting. They worry about not grasping information as quickly as other students, fearing that they are holding the group back. Alternatively, these students may find themselves feeling frustrated when they have mastered a particular concept but cannot move on until the rest of the group has similarly caught on. If you find attempting to master important academic information in a group more distracting than helpful and know you retain concepts best through one-on-one instruction, consider working with one of the world-class tutors at Manhattan Review.

At Manhattan Review, our professional and dedicated tutors are located right here in Durban, ready to help students just like you learn everything you need to obtain an impressively high score on the SAT. When you are preparing for the SAT, there is no need to leave anything to chance or to attempt to piece together your own study program, hoping you are covering the most relevant information. Our gifted tutors have deconstructed the SAT and analyzed every question in every section in order to teach you everything you need to obtain your own stellar score. In order to impress the most competitive undergraduate programs, you will need to demonstrate your commitment to education and your willingness to work hard, and a high SAT score can do just that, opening important academic doors and positioning you for the career of your dreams.

The SAT Is composed of two sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Each section has a possible range of scores from 200 to 800. Based on accumulated statistics, the average SAT scores for the top twenty universities in the United States are as follows: 711 to 768 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, 740 to 797 for Math, and 1450 to 1554 for total SAT score. While these are merely guidelines and every college or university will vary, the importance of exceptionally high SAT scores cannot be underestimated. In order to be competitive for the most respected institutions of higher education, it is imperative to demonstrate a strong performance on the SAT.

Meet a Durban SAT Tutor: Sunny P.

Sunny P. grew up in Toronto and loved living in a bustling, metropolitan city. When her father's job required the family to move to Wichita, Kansas, she was devastated to leave her friends behind. "I was a really shy kid," Sunny recalls, "so making friends was difficult for me, and I wasn't looking forward to starting school not knowing a single person." Sunny had been an avid artist from a young age, discovering a love of drawing when she was just a child, and she derived hours of enjoyment from creating her own illustrated stories and homemade graphic novels. "After we moved, my parents signed me up for art classes," she shares, "which was great because I could talk to other kids about their art, and that helped me start making new friends." As she grew older, Sunny began using different graphic design programs on her computer, although she never outgrew her love of illustrating by hand. "Using a computer offered so many new exciting design options, and I loved having different ways to bring my creations to life," she smiles.

Sunny dreamed of becoming a professional artist and set a goal of attending the Rhode Island School of Design, respected around the world for producing leaders in the fields of graphic design, illustration, and other forms of art. "I knew being accepted into such a prestigious and competitive program would be like getting into Harvard or Stanford," shares Sunny, "and the best way to make my application stand out—besides my portfolio—was having a really high SAT score." Sunny worked with a private tutor, learning how to approach test questions and select the most effective strategy for arriving at the best answer. "It was amazing to learn there was a method to answering standardized test questions," says Sunny. "After working with my tutor, I was so much more prepared than I ever could have been on my own, and on the day of the real test, I didn't panic or feel overwhelmed… I wasn't even surprised by anything." Sunny's hard work and dedication paid off, and she obtained a near-perfect SAT score, earning herself a place at the undergraduate program of her dreams, as well as receiving numerous financial aid awards.

After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, Sunny lived in New York City for a few years, working as a freelance illustrator in addition to teaching art classes at a local college. Sunny was surprised at how much she enjoyed teaching others, leading her to obtain a master's degree in education from the City University of New York (CUNY) at Brooklyn. When her sister accepted a job in Durban, she invited Sunny to move with her, and Sunny excitedly packed her suitcases. "I can draw and illustrate anywhere in the world," she explains, "and when was I going to have the chance to live in South Africa again?" Shortly after arriving, Sunny began teaching art in an after-school program, and when her students mentioned preparing for the SAT, she arranged several informal workshops and tutoring sessions to help them. Sunny's tutoring services became so popular that we at Manhattan Review invited her to join our team as an SAT tutor, and she happily accepted. Students love her up-beat, positive approach to learning, as well as her ability to reduce the stress of preparing for the SAT. There is regularly a wait list to work with Sunny, and she loves supporting motivated students. When she isn't helping future college students master the SAT, Sunny can be found learning to surf, enjoying the Durban nightlife with her sister, and working on her own graphic novel series.
