SAT Tutoring in Beijing

Taking the SAT is an established and expected part of applying to college and university undergraduate programs, and for those motivated students seeking to maximize their potential by achieving a top score, we at Manhattan Review are excited to partner with you in your journey to collegiate success. There's no doubt about it…when it comes to mastering this stress-inducing exam, students need every advantage available to them to ensure they score in the highest percentile on this important test. It not enough to merely be familiar with the content of the SAT; you need to be confident in your knowledge while also utilizing time-management and pacing skills, ensuring you have the energy necessary to complete this challenging exam. You also need to be able to efficiently identify the type of question you are being asked in order to effectively apply the correct strategy for arriving at the best answer.

Many students enjoy learning in the company of their peers, finding their curiosity and enthusiasm sparked by others' questions. Other students, however, find attempting to learn complex information alongside others to be distracting and even frustrating. If you know you learn best by receiving one-on-one attention and the customized instruction that is only available through private tutoring, we encourage you to contact us today to learn more about our private tutoring programs. We have retained the services of industry-leading professionals right here in Beijing, and our skilled and experienced tutors are eager to work with high-achieving students just like you. When you work with a private tutor at Manhattan Review, you have the opportunity to learn the most cutting-edge and useful test-taking tips and techniques while receiving instruction from a supportive and dedicated tutor with first-hand knowledge of the SAT. While our tutors are impressive scholars who have achieved their own stellar test scores, being a skilled test taker does not automatically translate into being a skilled educator. At Manhattan Review, we hire only those instructors with a strong background in teaching and/or education, tutors who are dedicated and passionate about improving your test readiness and who teach course materials in meaningful and memorable ways. Our sought-after instructors have deconstructed the SAT, analyzing every section and question type, and we've used our insights to provide you with the most current information on test content, as well as the tried-and-true methodologies that lead to score improvement. We couldn't be happier as our clients are consistently accepted into the most competitive and prestigious colleges and universities around the world, including Harvard University, Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, Dartmouth College, Princeton University, Oxford University, McGill University, the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, the University of Pennsylvania, Northeastern University, the University of California at Los Angeles, Stanford University, the University of Virginia, Rice University, and elsewhere.

Since 1999, we have been working with students around the world to help them prepare for the SAT. If you desire a customized program of study that is centered around your learning needs, we invite you to consider working with one of our established private tutors. Working with a private tutor offers many benefits that learning in classroom-style groups simply cannot: you can accelerate your learning and retention of course material, you can improve your test-taking skills, and you can significantly boost your own confidence when it comes to taking tests. Our private tutoring programs are uniquely designed for each individual, carefully crafted by taking your learning needs, strengths, and areas of desired growth into consideration.

The SAT is composed of two sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Each section has a possible range of scores from 200 to 800. Based on accumulated statistics, the average SAT scores for the top twenty universities in the United States are as follows: 711 to 768 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, 740 to 797 for Math, and 1450 to 1554 for total SAT score. While these are merely guidelines and every college or university will vary, the importance of exceptionally high SAT scores cannot be underestimated. In order to be competitive for the most respected institutions of higher education, it is imperative to demonstrate a strong performance on the SAT.

Working with a private tutor is truly one of the most effective ways of taking your SAT preparation to the next level. Our Beijing-based tutors are world-class educators, dedicated to helping students perform to their full academic potential. Our successful tutors will enthusiastically guide you towards your own SAT-related success and are committed to offering both targeted and comprehensive test preparation services. Given that no two students learn in exactly the same way, there's no need to try and change how you learn when we can offer you private test preparation with tutors who will teach based off your particular learning style. Your private tutor will begin by identifying your unique learning style, evaluating areas you are already strong in while also noting those in need of additional attention. Your tutor will help you use the academic strengths you already possess to help overcome any areas of weakness that might negatively impact your SAT performance. When you work with a private tutor, there's no need to wait for everyone to learn a concept before you move on; there's also no need to worry that you are holding the group up, leading you to feel self-conscious and stressed. We routinely receive feedback praising our supportive and experienced instructors, and they know just how to keep you moving forward and making progress while mastering our respected syllabus, allowing you to prepare for the SAT with the utmost confidence in your own skills.

Students in Beijing know exactly how competitive college acceptance can be, as there are always more applicants for an incoming freshman class than there are available spots, particularly at the highest-ranked universities. Meet a Beijing SAT Tutor: Marvin D.

Marvin D. grew up in Montreal and moved to Boston at a young age. "For as long as I can remember, I've been into pictures and visual media," he recalls. "I can't draw to save my life, but I remember being a kid and creating collages by cutting pictures out of magazines. I liked how pictures could evoke moods and make people feel things, and I knew I wanted to do something with that." Marvin created flyers and online advertisements for his childhood friends, announcing lemonade stands, garage sales, and pet sitting services. "At first it was just me doing things for my friends, but then some of their family members started asking me to help them with things like business cards or branding ideas," Marvin recalls, "and the first time I actually got paid for creating digital art, I felt like I was the most successful person in the world."

Marvin dreamed of attending the Rhode Island School of Design, a world-respected leader in graphic design programs. "I knew getting in there would be like getting into Harvard, so I needed all the help I could find to help me ace the SAT." Marvin began working with a private tutor through our Manhattan Review office, learning how to approach each question to apply the most useful strategic technique. "I took so many practice tests, I began to develop a good sense of how much time I had left in any given section," says Marvin with a laugh. "But after working with my tutor, I knew I was ready to take the test, and I wasn't surprised by anything on it." Marvin's hard work paid off, and he obtained an almost perfect SAT score, earning himself a spot at the Rhode Island School of Design, as well as generous financial aid.

After graduating with a degree in graphic design, Marvin accepted an advertising position in New York City and after working hard to build up his portfolio, he slowly began taking freelance work, finding his own customers and creating beautiful, eye-catching designs for clients. Marvin eventually started his own advertising and branding company focusing on digital media, and while he loved being his own boss and setting his own schedule, something was missing. "I wanted to do more than just educate the public about companies or products…I wanted to have a positive impact directly on people's lives." Marvin had completed student teaching projects during college and was familiar with leading online and in-person workshops, which led him to completing a Master of Teaching certificate from the University of Southern California. "There are a lot of similarities between tutoring and working with ad clients," Marvin shares. "In both instances, I'm presenting someone with something I want them to remember. The question is, what's the best way to help the material make enough of an impact so that it is, in fact, memorable?" When Marvin's sister moved to Beijing after her company offered her the chance to live and work abroad, she invited Marvin to move with her, and he quickly accepted. "I knew I'd be creatively inspired living in a place like Beijing, and I was excited to expand my aesthetic horizons." When a position opened up at the Beijing office of Manhattan Review, Marvin applied for a tutor position and quickly became one of our most popular tutors, especially among students who identify as visual learners. When he isn't preparing the next generation of high school students for college success, Marvin enjoys skateboarding, volunteering at a local pet rescue shelter, and attending Chinese operas with his sister.
