The TOEFL is an effective assessment because it comprehensively evaluates English language skills through a diverse set of exercises. There are distinct sections on reading, writing, speaking, and listening, but many of the exam's questions combine two or more of these content areas. This means that test-takers must be able to effectively communicate in academic and everyday contexts in order to receive high scores on the exam. The TOEFL is scored from 0 to 30 on each of four sections, for a total score of 0 to 120. Most degree programs, whether at the bachelor's, master's, or doctoral levels, will consider a total score of 100 and sectional scores of 25 each to be sufficient proof of English language competency. Students who are able to achieve these scores can be confident that they are prepared for university study in English-speaking countries.
Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep courses and TOEFL private tutoring have consistently led to elite university admission. Our TOEFL students in cities around the world (including Oslo) have begun and completed degree programs at Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge, Princeton, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, the University of Chicago, King's College London, the University of Melbourne, the University of Toronto, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Australian National University. Manhattan Review's TOEFL clients have also succeeded professionally. Many of our former students are now employed by Oslo companies and Fortune 500 firms, including Eitzen Maritime Services, Pareto Group, NHST Media Group, Nordic Mining, Bionor Pharma, Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance, CVS Health, United Technologies, JP Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo.
