After attending Cornell University, Clara graduated with degrees in Spanish and Art History and a minor in German. Clara was always a lover of language, stemming from the fact that her native Venezuelan mother reared her in a bilingual household. Her fluency for both English and Spanish expanded the student's interest in language arts. Her mother was also a Spanish teacher, so Clara understood the connection between studying a language and fully mastering it. She attended Cornell after getting accepted into a highly competitive immersion program during her junior year in high school. Clara can make Spanish a fun and accessible skill for students. She helps make complex grammar concepts click and feel natural.
She once lived in Madrid for a year. She's also done teaching programs in Central America. Clara understands the role that language plays in connecting cultures, especially when she and her mother return to Venezuela for family reunions. Clara says that the classroom buzzes with a certain, distinct vibrant energy when people engage in a collaborative dialogue of communication. She is a seasoned student of language herself, currently trying her best to pick up some Portuguese. Outside the classroom as a TOEFL tutor in New York, Clara loves beaches, fine bottles of wine, and good books.
