Suzanne grew up near the exciting intellectual energy of U.C. Berkeley, and that passion for learning inspired her own young mind. She attended Berkeley, where she majored in English Literature, read many books, and wrote regularly – sonnets, short stories, and sometimes even free-lance advertisements for corporate products and services. Unsure what comes next after this crucial juncture, Suzanne followed up this education with a law degree from Georgetown University Law School. East Coast was an interesting experience, but probably not what was intended for her long-term. Instead, she clutched at her writing and dreamed of avenues for creative self-expression.
While serving as a journalist in Washington, her husband's firm transferred him to Houston, Texas, and together they went west with a daughter in tow. At this point, Suzanne was writing for Conoco when she had an opportunity to begin teaching. It's been a few years, and Suzanne is truly onto something special. Teaching combines Suzanne's skills and interests, and her background makes her an excellent coach. Suzanne now teaches English as a second language to adults and specializes in TOEFL test prep, working with students in a one-on-one setting where this accomplished mentor's background blends well with her students' future possibilities.
