Meet a Champaign TOEFL Tutor: Arush S.

Arush S. was born in Chennai, India, and lived there for the first thirteen years of his life until his father accepted a position with a large tech company in Seattle. Arush developed a love of computers at an early age and quickly became skilled at developing his own app-based games and programs. Arush worked very hard in high school and obtained an impressive ACT score, which allowed him to attend Dartmouth University, where he majored in computer science. After graduating from Dartmouth, Arush went on to obtain a master's degree in computer science, as well as a TESOL certificate, from the University of California at Los Angeles. After graduating, he happily accepted a position with a large non-profit organization focused on improving access to technology in underserved areas around the world.

Arush traveled the world for more than ten years, living in India, Thailand, Korea, and Bali before eventually settling in Champaign where his wife had been born and raised. While he loved working with computers, Arush also enjoyed helping others learn, and he knew firsthand how important a thorough grasp of the English language could be. Arush wanted to make a difference in more students' lives, and he soon joined the team at Manhattan Review, where his students appreciate his patience and always highlight his clear explanations. When Arush isn't setting the next generation of college students up for their own successes, he can be found swimming at the local gym and hiking local trails with his wife.
