Meet an Atlanta TOEFL Tutor: Claudine H.

Claudine graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in International Economics and Spanish along with an already growing roster of tutoring gigs. Perhaps her unique ability to grasp language arts skills made tutoring such an obvious role for her. Or, it could be owed to her contagious sense of humor and solid teaching skills. As part of her undergraduate program, Claudine went overseas to teach English as a second language. In Spain, she was a live-in tutor for a semester, where she taught English to the family's two high school boys. They both boosted their grades in school, bringing home all A's much to their parents' delight!

Claudine credits her highly competitive TOEFL results to her love of dabbling in foreign languages. She explains that all the Romance languages are derived from Latin, and by being fluent in Spanish and French, she has learned how to "guess" the meanings of innumerable English-language derivatives as well. This elastic knowledge of language helps Claudine not only expand her vocabularies in several languages but also effectively communicate with her class. Claudine is also a serious movie buff, especially foreign films, citing "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "Amelie" as her all-time favorites.
