For more than 20 years, Manhattan Review has been teaching students worldwide how to conquer the assessments they need to gain entrance to the most elite English-speaking programs in the world. We have the distinction of working with international students since our inception, so we are not only familiar with English proficiency exams, but we are sensitive to the way our international students' needs differ from native English speakers. Let us help you to prepare for the IELTS with our proven course materials, methods, and top-quality instructors. We know your time leading up to applying is precious, and we do not want you to waste any time trying to prepare on your own. We have extensive experience in the process, and can help you have a clear, concrete plan, personalized to your needs. You save your time and energy for the actual preparation instead of for cobbling together a hit or miss learning plan on your own. We can discuss courses and scheduling and answer your questions either on the phone, via email, or online.
The first thing we suggest students who are non-native English speakers to do when organizing to apply to English-speaking university programs is to get a clear understanding of the tests expected and the minimum score the program requires. Some programs will accept either the IELTS or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), but some will only accept one or the other, so first be sure you are preparing for the correct exam. Once you know your options regarding the assessment you must take, you will want to clarify two scores – the required minimum to be considered for acceptance and the average score of the most recent incoming class. The first score gives you a 'basement' or an idea of the lowest score you can get, while the second score will give you a better idea of how well people who are typically accepted to your first-choice program perform. Once you have an idea of your goals, we can help you match up with a group course that will work for you or a mentor who can use a personalized learning plan to address your specific language learning needs and preparation needs to take the IELTS.
