A software defect in a certain application was at first presumed to be caused by a code feature the developers had recently introduced. Newer data, however, shows that the defect appears when a particular third-party tool is also running, and the developers now conclude that it is the third-party tool, not the new feature, that causes the defect.

Each of the statements in the table is true. In the table, select Strengthen for the statement that most strengthens the developers' conclusion, and select Weaken for the statement that most weakens it.
