Hey Bubby,

It's going to vary case-by-case. The largest factor is going to be how prepared you are for the GMAT. Depending on your preparedness, this alone could take a month to five or six months of work.

My conservative advice would be to start early, probably March-ish, requesting apps from programs that interest you, attend an MBA tour, visit school websites, etc. Use the next several months to prepare for the GMAT, brainstorm essays, and more clearly define your goals. By July-Aug you should be in touch with your recs and requesting transcripts. Take the GMAT in Sept, finish your essays over the next couple months and then mail in your apps in by whatever round you want to apply for.
