"Note that not all college accreditation associations are legitimate. Some colleges and diploma mills create their own accrediting authority and then grant themselves “accreditation”. Be careful and stay on the lookout for such institutions before you waste your time and money.
See how you can check if a college is truly accredited:

If possible, speak to someone locally in your field about this subject. The accounting profession is "finicky"- I have yet to find an online program that accounting firms and professionals accept as reputable and reliable.

If you are attending classes to set for the Certified Public Accounting Exam-- check with your state Accountancy Board to learn if the classes will be accepted.

Several of my co-workers found that some online classes will be accepted by the local Accountacy Board toward the exam, but the local profession will not recognize the degree (aka- no increase in pay for the MBA).

I am currently thinking about participating in an online college. I heard something about online education and teaching classes. I am very interested in this topic. Does anyone know an accredited school which offers courses in the field of education and teaching? Where can I check if my exam is accepted by the local profession? I would really appreciate some useful information. thx in advance

If your intention for taking up online education is not because of comfort and not necessity, i.e. I don't have to leave the house, I can study anytime, then you may be making a mistake. There have been cases about graduates of online schools that claim to be accredited to have a difficult time getting a stable work. Although ensuring your school of choice by asking accrediting bodies in the state helps, it does not save you from future prejudice of people in the workplace who favor people who have studied in brick and mortar institutions. Personally, I would suggest for you to rethink your strategy and consider brick and mortar schools.
